Book Review #1

To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han

I decided to create a new category about reviewing the books that I've been reading because I started to read a lot more recently and I ran into some pretty great novels along the way.

Currently, I am reading the series To All The Boys I've Loved Before. I heard about these books after the first novel became a motion picture featured on Netflix. The movie was AMAZING. I recommend it to everyone that I cross paths with.

I finished the first book of the series. The first book, To All The Boys I've Loved Before is about how Lara Jean's (played by Lana Condor in the movie) secret love letters, five in total, are mailed. The love letters, once for her eyes only, were now seen by five boys that she loved - one being her sister's boyfriend and another being the most popular guy in school, Peter Kavinsky (played by Noah Centineo in the movie).

As a result of her love letters getting sent out, Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky start a fake relationship (with a contract and everything) to make Peter's ex-girlfriend jealous. While pretending, both of them started to have real feelings for each other. Super cute, right? Gosh. I love romance novels.

The first book was vastly different from the movie. But, I have to say I didn't mind it. I did think the movie was better, however, there were some scenes in the book that I enjoyed reading and picturing in my head.

I love how Peter and Lara Jean got super close in the first book. I hope their relationship doesn't die as the series continues. My favorite is when Pete gets Lara Jean to step out of her comfort zone because that is what a relationship is about - challenging each other.

Can it be noted that I HATE when Peter doesn't get Lara Jean's scrunchie back?? How could he let Gen have it (Gen is Peter's ex-girlfriend in the movie and books). We don't like her.

Jenny Han is a New York Times Bestselling Author and from this series I can see why! From reading the first page of To All The Boys I've Loved Before, I was completely invested in book.

Okay. Let's be honest, I was already invested in this series after watching the movie for the first time. So, I watched it over and over again for two reasons:

  1. Noah Centineo is hot

  2. NOAH CENTINEO IS HOT

*Incase you didn't read it the first time*

All jokes aside, what pushed me to read the series was the movie. I can't wait to finish the second book! I am almost done.

I suggest you guys read the book first before watching the movie because of how different everything played out. I don't want to give anything away, but there are definitely some scenes that were in the book that didn't make it to the motion picture.

A book that you can't put down is a good book - in my opinion. Watch the movie and then read the books! You will not regret it.
