Sausage & Peppers with a twist

Are you ready for another recipe?? I can't wait to share this one with you guys. When I think about Sunday dinner, I immediately gravitate toward Italian.

With that being said, I made sausage and peppers. YUM. Now, sausage and peppers is a good dish on its own. You could pair it with rice. But, I decided to make sausage and peppers pasta with potato gnocchi.

Let's get to the good part...

What you will need:

Ingredients

  • 1 turkey sausage

  • a pack of spicy sausage

  • 1 small onion, chopped

  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1 box of bowtie pasta

  • 1 pack of potato gnocchi

  • 3 baby sweet orange peppers

  • 3 baby sweet red peppers

  • 1 jar of marinara sauce

  • salt and pepper, to taste

First thing, you need to bring a pot of water to a boil. This is for the spicy sausage. When the water is boiling pop the sausage in. Let it boil for 15 minutes.

While the sausage is boiling, you can start chopping the garlic, onion, peppers and the other sausage. In another pan, bring it to medium heat, add olive oil and two tablespoons of butter. When the butter is melted, you can add the garlic, onion, and peppers. Stir. Give it about 5 to 10 minutes until the onions become translucent.

When the onions become clear you can add

the turkey sausage. As the flavors are combining in the pan, you can turn off the heat for the other sausages and pour out the water. Cut

the spicy sausage, on an angle, into slices and add it to the pan. Turn the heat on low and cover. Stirring occasionally.

Bring another pot to boil, or the same pot from the sausages, just wash it first. LOL. Add salt and oil to that pot. When the water is boiling add the pasta.

Now, the potato gnocchi can be an alternative to the pasta. However, I added both. Sue me.

Once the pasta is done cooking, don't drain the water or turn off the heat. Scoop out the noodles and add it to the pan with the sausages. Then add the gnocchi. It only takes two minutes to cook. When they are floating at the top scoop them out and add them to the dish. Pour in the jar of marinara sauce, leave the pan on low heat, covered. Stir often. When you are ready to serve, add salt and pepper and turn off the heat.

Enjoy & Happy cooking!!
