Stories

If you haven't heard about the show, The Good Doctor, then you are really missing out on great television. Let me know if you guys watch this show in the comments!

In case you don't watch the show: The Good Doctor is about Shaun Murphy, a young autistic surgeon with savant syndrome. It's truly amazing what he can see and do just by looking at someone's body. He can immediately identify the problem of the patient and it's extraordinary. Shaun had a troubled childhood which doesn't allow him to open up to those around him. Being a surgeon at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital is allowing him to step out of his comfort zone and make friends with other surgeons.

Do not read any further if you are not caught up with season two. I don't want to spoil anything for you.

I thought episode eight was the saddest so far. I keep forgetting that Dr, Glassman has cancer, but I love how Shaun is taking care of him and looking out for his friend.

Shaun was helping Dr. Glassman gain his memory back because the treatment is causing him to lose his memory. It broke my heart when Shaun asked,

"What is my brother's name?"

& Dr. Glassman was stumped, struggling to find the answer while looking at a photograph of Shaun and his younger brother. He finally said,

"Sam."

I was not okay after watching this scene, which happened to be the end of the episode because it proves two things. One, that Dr. Glassman's memory is deteriorating fast. But, second that he didn't know the name of Shaun's brother (his brother's name is Steven, btw. Probably should mention that). LOL. Can we take a second and let that sink in??

*ONE SECOND PASSED*

Moving on before I start crying again, the patients that they treat at San Jose St. Bonaventure Hospital is crazy! This episode was my favorite because Shaun Murphy and Claire Brown received an interesting case.

Dr. Brown and Dr. Murphy were treating a woman that said yes to EVERYTHING. Her actions were not based off of her decisions. This caused her to have multiple affairs and even clean out her bank account. The woman's husband was distraught when he found this out and didn't want to be with her anymore. This was after he found out that she had a tumor that was causing her to make risky decisions.

Dr. Brown went looking for the husband, who was in the hospital's chapal, after his wife had surgery to try and knock some sense into him and she definitely made a good point. I wish I could find a video for you because her speech was so good! But, basically she told him that while his wife had the tumor inside of her she had the opportunity to go through with any decision that she made because she couldn't say no - not once did she make the decision to leave him or their marriage (*mic drop*). Powerful, right??

Thankfully, we see her husband go back to her room, take her hand and sit with her while she apologizes to him. Behind all the problems and mistakes, true love still exists. Love it.

Don't miss a new episode of The Good Doctor tonight at 10 PM! It's going to be a good one.
